As we celebrate the election of the 267th Roman Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, let us recall our duty as Christian faithful to support him with our prayers. As a son of St. Augustine, let us invoke the intercession of St. Augustine who spent his life searching for the Lord. Upon finding him he wrote the famous lines in his Confessions: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” We find ourselves in a time filled with restlessness, may Pope Leo XIV guide the Church and people throughout the world to the Heart of Jesus Christ, the only place we will ever truly find rest. We also invoke the intercessions of St. Leo the Great, that Pope Leo XIV may be a great defender of the Church and a faithful servant of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
This is a great time of celebration for our Church; and while we continue to pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, we ask the Lord’s blessings to fall upon the Church at the start of this new pontificate under the guidance of Pope Leo XIV. Habemus Papam!
